Out of the blue, 30 Second to Mars released the second single from their upcoming untitled album last Thursday night. Following last August’s release of Walk on Water, the band has thrilled our ears with Dangerous Night which you can listen to below.
The band performed the song live on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert which has to be seen, even if it’s just for the cinematography and camera movement, panning from the band, a dancer and even Colbert in one fluid motion.
It’s definitely a little different to previous work the band have produced. This album looks to be more pop-oriented, moving away from the band’s original rock roots which will be sure to upset some long standing fans. The new single is similar to Walk on Water in terms of composition but is definitely catchier and the beat will stick with you afterwards. Jared Leto’s vocals are just as stunning as ever, and the lyrics are just as strong and mesmerising as previous 30 Seconds to Mars songs. The fact this will be their fifth album yet are still able to continue to impress speaks to their musical talents. Walk on Water spent 5 weeks at No.1 on Billboard’s Rock Airplay Chart in the United States and in the United Kingdom, reached No.1 on the UK Rock and Metal Singles Charts. It remains to be seen whether Dangerous Night can mirror or better this success but we’re hopeful it can.
Come March 11th, the band will be kicking off their European tour, starting in Cologne, Germany. They’ll be getting to the United Kingdom on March 23rd, and will be appearing in Cardiff before moving to Manchester, Glasgow and London on subsequent days, before finishing in Birmingham on the 29th. Tickets are still available to purchase now.
