Do you have a story you need to tell? Then this is the competition for you.

This contest is open to any Solent students who can tell a story in 75-1000 words and entertain their audience. There are no restrictions on genre or style; I want you to express your writing style freely, as long as the content is not racist, homophobic etc.

Winning entries will be published in an anthology early next year, which brings together writers across the University including all three years of the English Programme’s courses. Even a few of the English lecturers’ are involved! This is an incredible opportunity to express your storytelling potential and to be acknowledged alongside established and up and coming authors alike.

Submission guidelines:

Entries must be submitted by email to and posted into the body of the email only. No attachments please.

Deadline: 17th December.

Winners will be announced 7th January.

Good luck to all entrants and I can’t wait to see more evidence of just how talented and creative the students of this university can truly be.
