At the end of this month you will be able to watch Southampton Solent’s Drama and Performance Society’s very own showcase of ‘Encore!’
But what exactly is it?
The show is a collection of musical numbers and acting pieces performed by both old and new members of the society – with two producer characters that will be narrating the whole show.
The event is going to be a fundraising event for a play and musical that the society will be putting on later during the year.
Aimee Barnes – a member from the society – talks about how the show is a chance for all the new people in the society to get a feel for the event and get to know each other.
“Usually it’s this very first event that everyone comes together and get to showcase their talents and work together.
“And whether they want to dance, sing, or act, they all get to do their specific thing that they want to do.”
The society first held auditions back in September, but have been preparing as a committee since July.
“This has been a long time coming,” Barnes tells us. “Pretty much as soon as elections were had and we had our brand-new committee, we started planning for this. But rehearsals started in September.”
One of the performers in ‘Encore!’ – Will Faulkner – will be doing a singing and dancing act. He’s been preparing for the showcase very close to day one.
Faulkner said: “I’m definitely looking forward to the show! I think it’s going to be absolutely fantastic, and I hope everyone else enjoys it as well.”
The showcase of ‘Encore!’ will begins on November 30 and runs through until December 2.
It will be happening at Southampton Solent University in JM315/Studio C and tickets can be bought on the door.
Tickets cost £5 for students with a valid student ID, and £7 for non-students.
