On Sunday 18th September between 11:30 – 15:00, St Denys Sailing and Rowing club are giving those curious about seafaring the opportunity to experience sailing, rowing or canoeing on a peaceful stretch of the River Itchen – no experience required.
Founded in 1889 with the intention of making boating available to everyone, the club has since succeeded in it’s goals granting members access to any of their boats, 365 days a year for only £105 annually.
The boathouse is situated on Priory Avenue just above Cobden Bridge and have been making boating accessible to everyone for pushing 127 years. Since those early days, the club has drastically expanded its collection of boats and now offer every sort of rowing or sailing boat (excluding Sunseekers). With an extensive rowing fleet accompanied by a range of canoes and kayaks, you’re sure to find the right boat to have a whale of a time (sorry).
If you’re interested in experiencing any of these boats on the waters of the River Itchen – free of charge – don’t hesitate to email at email@example.com or Call 02380 970965 for more information and to arrange a convenient date and time.
Anyone is welcome on the day – as with the usual membership – only the club requires that those under the age of 18 be accompanied by an adult. The upside of this is that those under 18 boat for free!
