2018 marks the Isle Of Wight Festival’s 50th anniversary.
To celebrate, not only do they have a stellar line-up, but are choosing to collaborate with HOT VOX to continue their support of new, potential talent with their New Blood competition.
The competition is open to all artists and bands across the UK. All they must do to have a shot at winning is submit an original song they feel ‘best represents them’. If they win, they will be performing alongside names such as The Killers and Liam Gallagher.
Isle Of Wight Festival organiser John Giddings spoke on the competition. He said: “There are so many great unsigned artists out there so this is all about discovering them. It’s fantastic to give new bands and new talent the chance to play at one of the biggest festivals of the summer, featuring legendary acts. It really is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be at same festival as The Killers, Kasabian, Depeche Mode and Liam Gallagher! Every band in the country should be putting themselves forward for this!”
The most talented submissions will be invited to the Live Rounds, in which they will be judged by industry professionals. Factors in judging include their musicianship, song-writing and fan engagement. This also means that all artists invited who perform are given significant exposure.
Everyone can get involved
However, it won’t just be down to the professionals to judge who wins. Fans will also get to vote at each gig, and online, helping their favourite artist progress to the last Grand Final. That will be held at the 02 Academy Islington. The final will be attended by special guest judges who will give their favourite act the opportunity to perform at the festival.
The competition is also supported by ReverbNation, meaning no semi-finalists go home empty handed, as they win a three month free membership to ReverbNation. The artists lucky enough to perform at the Grand Final will be invited to join ReverbNation CONNECT; an artist development program.
This year’s Isle Of Wight will be held from the 21st to the 24th of June. If you’d like to partake in the competition, please state your interest here:
