On Sunday the 28th August Southampton will finally be host to a LGBT Pride Parade! With over 30 pride parades taking place each year across the UK, it’s about time the dazzling day was brought to Southampton. Officially Sponsored by Southampton Solent University, the event is open to all – with no entry fee – and will take place on West Marlands Road.

Beginning at 11am, the day will have something for everyone. If it’s not the sunshine, then perhaps the numerous food and drink stalls, the live music and entertainment, face-painting, things to buy, crafts to make, dancing or just the great company will entice you.

At 3pm there will be the classic community pride parade through the city centre. Beginning at The Stage Door at 3pm, the procession will continue through Guildhall Square, down Above Bar Street to the Bargate Monument, around the Bargate Monument, back up Above Bar Street to Guildhall Square and West Marlands Road. Anyone is welcome to attend the parade as with the actual festival, dogs included!

Alcohol is available to buy on site, although unfortunately, bringing your own is illegal due to licensing regulations.

Pride wristbands are available for purchase from the Artisan Cafe for just £2, which give pride-goers a discount at all the Pride food and drink outlets and venues around Guildhall Square, as well as doubling as a fabulous fashion accessory and memento for the wonderful day you’re sure to have.

The day-time events along with live music will end at 11pm, at which point the late-night after parties will begin for the adults. With a live Drag Cabaret show upstairs at The Stage Door, another Drag Cabaret at The London Hotel all evening, an official after party at The Edge & Box Bar and a long bank holiday weekend to enjoy it,  the fun is sure to continue into the next morning! Last entry at The Edge & Box Bar is 3am.
