Martha Wainwright

Following some fantastic shows earlier this year, performing with artists such as Ed Harcourt at The Roundhouse Theatre and Celtic Connections festival in January, Martha Wainwright will be returning for some UK headline shows in July.

The tour will include new single “Franci”, which is being released on the 14th July with recording label PIAS. The song is written by Martha and produced by husband Brad Albetta, and friend Thomas Bartlett, otherwise known as Doveman. It’s Wainwright’s second song about her youngest child Francis from her hit 2016 album “Goodnight City”. “Francis” was the name of the first song, written by Martha’s brother, Rufus Wainwright. The soft and soothing tone of Martha’s vocals perfectly capture the close bond between a mother and son. Most importantly, the song was a hit with Francis himself.

“Goodnight City” had the critics raving reminding them of the raw emotion passed on from her 1997 debut album “Ground Floor”. Half of the songs on the album are written by Martha herself, the other half by close family and friends; Beth Orton, Glen Hansard, Rufus Wainwright, Michael Ondaatje and Merrill Garbus of Tune-Yards.
