So, it is only 6 weeks till Christmas and our “Hollaback Girl” Gwen Stefani has given us all an early Christmas gift. Her new album “You Make It Feel Like Christmas.” Was released on the 6th October 2017, this festive album includes a duet by the same title featuring Blake Shelton.

This 12-song collection features 6 original songs alongside classics such as, “Let it Snow, Santa Baby and Silent Night.” Yes, covers of the same year after year mind-numbing classics, but she has treated us with a fresh and different take to soften the blow.

It is easy to forget about this pop icon who has been around a while, another year older, but you just wouldn’t think it!

This new album has received much attention with all the glitz and glamour coming from the Twitter teased album covers and the much-anticipated duet with country singer and partner Blake Shelton.

The fact that they have both come together within this album is a delightful combination of both pop and country music.

It is a reminder of similar X-MAS music collaborations, back in 2011 with Mariah Carey and John Legend- “When Christmas Comes.”. Proving it Is always exciting recognising that singers voice you know and love but wouldn’t expect to make a release at this festive time.

The beginning of the song “My Gift is You” is almost identical to the 2010 original “Stand by Me” by Ben E. King, however, once Stefani starts singing, the track then takes on a form of its own.

Lyrics: “All I want is you to take my love and give it back again/ I don’t even a wedding ring/All I need is love and the truth/And I got it, my gift is you.”

The self-composed lyrics are enjoyable and something that will grow on you the more you listen.

After gossip of the release has filled the internet, many can hear the several references to a wedding ring. Everyone seems to be asking the same thing “Blake in Mind Perhaps.”

In all honesty, her voice does compliment the same old dreary classics. This most definitely shows her first Christmas album is off to a festive and very warming start.

Some may say this album has its work cut out for it, keeping up with the Mariah Carey classic “All I want for Christmas is you.” Chart toppers aside, in my opinion, this festive album would be perfectly suited to putting up the tree with your family.

It may even make that resident family Grinch crack a smile or get your mood for the dreading shopping ahead, and as Stefani says, “It’s just a bit of fun.”
