Olami Still is a UK-based hip-hop and rap artist who is preparing to release his debut EP titled ‘Guide Me Out’ on 26th May 2017, on all major digital outlets. The 19-year-old was first recognised by the public after his release of his debut single ‘Call On Me’ in October 2015. The single was featured on Charlie Sloth’s ‘Gas or Trash’ Record of the Week on BBC 1XTRA.
‘Call On Me’ had a particular afrotrap vibe, similar to that of music artist Shakka, as his parents introduced him to African and Caribbean music which entwined with his love of hip-hop artists such as 2PAC and 50 Cent. His third released song titled ‘Hater’ saw his fan base grow by peaking at Number 39 on iTunes and also featured on MOBO Award’s ‘The Connect’ playlist.
His EP features five-tracks including last years big hit ‘Glide’, which has over 219,000 listens on Soundcloud and the lead single ‘Cash’ which has just ran as an exclusive on GRM Daily and has had over 111,000 views on YouTube. After listening to both of these songs it appears as the youngster is developing as a musician he is finding his own style of sound that has changed from that of his early released songs, such as ‘Call On Me’.
‘Cash’ and ‘Glide’ appear to take more influence from the likes of WSTRN as he tends to highlight his lyrics more within the song than the music itself, making them more meaningful and motivational. His vocal similarity is also that of Wretch 32, and usually implements a standout catchy chorus to keep his audience engaged right until the end.
