Rockwood Festival is about to hit Hampshire on the 4th of June!
The new Rookwood event is the brainchild of local actor couple Sarah Parish and Jim Murray, of Ovington in Hampshire and the event committee hopes to attract over 1000 visitors to maximise the fundraising potential for Sarah and Jim’s charity The Murray Parish Trust.
Sarah and Jim set up their charity The Murray Parish Trust after their daughter Ella-Jayne tragically passed away at 8 months old following a traumatic premature birth at Southampton Hospital. They pledged to raise £1,000,000 in her memory to help fund the expansion of the children’s unit, and with all profits from the event being donated it will be the third major fundraiser they have organised, seeing them well on their way to hitting their ambitious target.
Festival goers will be treated to a total of 12 bands on the two stages and an incredible line which includes impressive such chart credentials as Fun Lovin Criminals who had scored 8 top 40 singles in the 1990’s and 2000’s, Dodgy, who’s hit ‘Good Enough’ reached number 4 in the UK singles chart in the 1990’s, Grant Sharkey, Soul & Fire, One Step Too Late, Head North, Ian Easton, Debora Bonham, The Chalk Flowers, Josh McCormick, Ella Davidson, Solar Wolf, Junco Shakers and many more!
Of particular local interest is Ward Thomas, the sister duo who have taken the UK country market by storm since arriving on the music scene in 2014. The sisters, Catherine and Lizzy Ward, from Hampshire, have already had a number one album on the iTunes Country Chart, and won UK Album of the Year at the British Country Music Awards.
Rockwood Festival is set to offer a mouthwatering selection of food at this year’s event including: Thai Tapas, Wood Fired Pizza, Cajun, Paella, Crepes…..and ICE CREAM, while the bars would introduce a fantastic selection of Real Ales and Beers, Cider, Wines, Pimms, Gin, Cocktails, Soft Drinks and Non Alcoholic Cocktails.
