Producer, musician and vocalist I AM KODE is releasing a new single on Downtown 82 Records on the 9th June 2017. The new single ‘Come Steal My Sole’ has been released alongside a reworked version of his debut single ‘Flood’.

I AM KODE was born and raised in South West London. He has a passion for creating electronic-based dance music. His music is inspired by many modern chart artists such as Calvin Harris, John Newman and Sigala.

‘Come Steal My Soul’ has already had a positive critical acclaim from the BBC as well as being teamed with a re-worked version of his debut single ‘Flood’. ‘Flood’ also had good critical acclaim being awarded Q Magazine’s ‘Track of the Day’ last spring.

He is due to release his debut album ‘Never Surrender’ later in the year under the independent label, Downtown 82 Records. The album is entirely self produced, written and recorded by I AM KODE.

The single ‘Come Steal My Soul’ was made in collaboration with the legendary DJ Judge Jules and has a very distinct electronic keyboard beat in the opening, kind of reminiscent of old well-known groups such as MGMT. When the songs kicks in, we are taken away from the keyboard melody and are greeted by an upbeat, pop-esque bass line. The vocals in the song are impressive and are identical to your typical British Indie vocals from bands such as Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys.

The single ‘Flood’ has a very different approach to ‘Come Steal My Soul’. It has a much faster bpm and instrumental. With a beat boxer like bass line and an electronic rift in the background, it gives the single a  Daft Punk feel. Vocally, it keeps that iconic British sound but with an MC vibe, with the lyrics being sung in fast tempo. However, it quickly transitions, changing the tone of the song completely. The vocals become more elongated, with soothing ‘oooo’ sound taking over in the background, with the keyboard notes longer than previous.

All in all, both tracks are impressive for an artist who is looking to break into the scene. They feature all of the characteristics we see in modern chart music, and should easily attract fans. The fact that both singles differ in the way they are delivered shows the diversity of talent and imagination I AM KODE has, making it so every track feels and sounds different.
