Sheffield based Indie four piece, The Sherlocks, have seen their fair share of celebrations this week and with good reason too. This week saw not only the 24th birthday of lead guitarist Josh Davidson, but a stellar performance at Reading festival and the release of the band’s anticipated debut album, ‘Live For The Moment.’ Not bad for a week’s work…
The band, consisting of two sets of brothers were spotted celebrating backstage at Leeds festival with Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher for what is certainly a hard earnt occasion – the band’s debut album soared into the UK charts, landing them a spot at number 6! To say they’ve worked for it would be an understatement too, as the band have been touring the country non-stop running up to the release of ‘Live For The Moment,’ including a spot as main support on arena tours for both Kings of Leon and Richard Ashcroft as well as numerous festival appearances this year. In fact, the band even claim that they have 1200 gigs under their belts in the short 7 years that they’ve been together!
Following on from earlier singles ‘Will You Be There’ and ‘Was It Really Worth It?’ the band’s first record comes as the long-awaited pay out that all of their previous work had been hinting at. The band had already established themselves as dedicated and hard-working heroes on the local indie circuit, being the first unsigned band since The Arctic Monkeys to sell out their local venue, The Sheffield Leadmill, so it seems that the four piece have a bright future ahead of them.
Recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales produced by Gavin Monaghan, ‘Live For The Moment’ promises to be an adrenalizing rush of youthful indie rock. On their debut album, The Sherlocks claim:
“We’ve genuinely worked so hard for this and put everything into this album, down to the very last detail… Our lives have completely changed over the last few years, we started this band around 7 years ago as friends jamming a few songs out together in my dad’s garage. Over 1200 gigs later, we’re now here announcing something we will be eternally proud of. We can’t wait for you to hear it in its entirety. This one’s for you.
This journey has only just begun… LIVE FOR THE MOMENT x “
