Synth-Pop pioneers Blancmange share chilling new single ‘Anna Dine’ from upcoming album, ‘Unfurnished Rooms’
Legendary synth-pop duo and pioneers of the genre, Blancmange is set to return once again with Unfurnished Rooms, their ninth studio album and a further exploration of their trademark dark, hazy synth pop sound. Following on from a re-release of the universally treasured first three Blancmange records; Happy Families (1982), Mange Tout (1984) and Believe You Me (1985) as a deluxe 3CD edition this summer, Unfurnished Rooms comes as a transgressive exploration of a sound that the duo are now more than comfortable with – having originally paved the way for the genre in the 80s with the first two Blancmange albums reaching gold status in the UK.
Unfurnished Rooms comes as the fourth album to see Neil Arthur creating under the Blancmange moniker on his own, after original member Stephen Luscombe’s unfortunate departure in 2015 due to an ongoing illness. Instead, Arthur is joined by Wrangler member, Benge, who co-produced the album. Unfurnished Rooms comes as the duo’s second successful collaboration this year, after making their debut as Fader in June with the album First Light.
The latest single from the upcoming album, Anna Dine comes as a dark and contemplative track drenched in goth-pop dreariness that is almost unmistakably Cure-esque. Keeping with the name of the album, there is a feeling of emptiness and space prominent within the track, making its listener feel as though they are a ghost haunting the halls of their own home. It’s spine-tingling, to say the least, and an exciting preview of things to come!
