A new movie about acclaimed singer Chuck Mosley is coming!
On February 6, director and musician Drew Fortier announced his next film project; a documentary about the Faith No More/Bad Brains/Cement/Primitive Race member Chuck Mosley. The film itself was initially conceived as a narrative on the legendary singer and musician’s then burgeoning comeback. Chuck originally agreed to the project through a typically irreverent voicemail.
Fortier, known from the bands Bang Tango and Zen From Mars, will return to a familiar spot. He is going back behind the camera to direct the documentary. The director also helmed 2015’s Attack of Life: The Bang Tango Movie. When he was playing the guitar for Chuck Mosley, at a handful of shows in 2017, they discussed the framework of a documentary. They decided that it should be about the singer and songwriter’s life and his re-emergence on the scene.
Fortier stated, “I am incredibly excited to tell Chuck’s story. I believe everyone will be able to get something positive out of the finished project of what will be Chuck’s film.”
Before his unexpected death on November 9th 2017, Mosley left a voicemail for Drew. It touchingly said “I’ve decided to go ahead with the video … I mean, not the video, but the documentary on this one, Chuck Mosley. He seems like a pretty expansive and explosive character. I think he would be perfect for the part of himself …”
The film will be produced by Chuck’s longtime friend/bandmate/babysitter, Douglas Esper, who is also working on a book about their time. He added, “In supporting Drew I hope to give people a glimpse into the beautiful and frustrating mind of one of the most unique, self proclaimed ‘Rock Satellites,’ of all time.”
The team recently launched a Facebook page concerning the project, and fans can also contact email@example.com to hear more. They are eager to hear from fans, family, friends and anyone else willing to share stories, photos, audio and video of Chuck Mosley.
