Finland’s biggest rock band, The Rasmus, is back!

A question, that many fans have been asking is… Where has The Rasmus gone?

And the answer to that is simple, The Rasmus have not disappeared anywhere, even though it has been a while since their last album The Rasmus appeared in 2012. From 2013 to 2016, The Rasmus toured in Russia, Ukraine, the UK, Switzerland, Finland, Mexico, Peru and Argentina playing to over half a million fans across the globe.

Lauri Ylönen

“It was mind-blowing to play to our South American fans.”

-Lauri Ylönen, during the Latin American tour.

The Rasmus; since starting in 1993, have almost a million Facebook friends, while on Spotify, the band’s catchy songs have gathered tens and tens of millions of plays. The Rasmus’s single and physical album sales are also impressive: their breakthrough single ‘In The Shadows’ and its accompanying album Dead Letters (2003) can be found in over one and a half million households.

The band members Lauri Ylönen, Pauli Rantasalmi, Eero Heinonen and Aki Hakala also took some time to try to catch up with their lives. Since the last album, Lauri moved to Los Angeles, a change that resonates in many of the songs he has written since. Both Lauri and Pauli also had the added burden of going through divorces, which have influenced many of the themes found within the new material.

Excited fans will get the chance to dive into The Rasmus’s world of new tricks this coming October 6, 2017, when the band’s long-anticipated new album: Dark Matters will be released on DA/CD/LP via Playground Music. This will contain new, contemporary, sounds as well as the wonderfully typical dark tones, as heard on the first song of the forthcoming album, ‘Paradise’.

‘Paradise’ was recorded and mixed in Stockholm, produced by the very successful Swedish team: The Family.

Despite all the innovations, The Rasmus doesn’t deviate so much from the familiar sound so welcomed and loved by their fans.

“We haven’t abandoned our signature northern melancholy, but you can hear a wide range of influences in our new compositions. The new album is like a rollercoaster with many different emotions and personal feelings”.

-Lauri Ylönen.

Along with the new album, comes a new tour; something that will delight fans across the world.
