Destruction and chaos return to our tv screens as Robot Wars Series 10 begins!

The arena has been reinforced, and the roboteers have been prepping their robots, making sure their weapons and fighting strategies are at their best.

Familiar faces are back for the first episode, with Apollo, Behemoth and Sabretooth part of the first team battles. New robots see Donald Thump, Apocalypse and The Swarm take on the seasoned bots, with some surprising results.

The Swarm is the first to have four minibots in the arena at the same time. Last season had Meggamouse, a team with one robot and two clusterbots. As per the arena rules, clusterbots are allowed providing the collective weight of the robots doesn’t exceed 110kg.

As usual, the first episode doesn’t disappoint. Robots catch fire, the arena hazards claim the lives of unsuspecting robots, and some even get flung high in the air.

The format of the show has had a small tweak. Three robots battle in the first round, with the winner automatically going to the semi-final. The two losers from each bout then go to a redemption round, where the winner reaches the other semi-final places.

There is even a new arena hazard this season, the Fog of War. When the Pit hazard is activated, it can fall one of two ways. If the pendulum falls to the left, the Pit gets released. If it falls to the right, either the House Robots go rogue or the Fog of War begins.

Fog of War is 10 seconds of smoke filling the arena, blinding everyone from hazards and other robots. Plus, the house robots get a chance to rein terror on the battling bots.

The first episode is full of promise for the new season, and well worth the watch!
