10 years in the making, the formative 2006 recording sessions in Brooklyn have since become a landmark date denoting the creation of the indie folk group The Travelling Band. The band have since released three albums, several EPs and created their own label, Sideways Saloon.

Their second album, Under The Pavement saw them garner some well-deserved recognition, the album featuring as BBC Radio 6’s Music Album Of The Day as well as Single Of The Week on BBC Radio 2.

“They produce an inventive brand of guitar-laden cosmic aesthetic and sprinkles of trademark Manchester’s musical lineage” – Clash Magazine

In celebration of the group’s decade anniversary, The Travelling Band will be embarking on their first UK headline tour and releasing their first new music since their 2014 album The Big Defreeze.

The tour, aptly named Close Your Eyes And Count To Ten celebrating 10 years, sees the band playing seventeen shows in total across the UK with plenty of new material in anticipation of their fourth album scheduled for next year.

2016 has already been a successful year for the folk foursome, touring all over Europe supporting UK country rock singer Lissie which encompassed sold out shows at The Forum as well as big theatre performances in Germany and Norway. The Travelling Band also doubled as Lissie’s live performance band during which time they found themselves playing at summer festival across the continent.

The Travelling Band’s record label Sideways Saloon has also seen success with the acclaimed release of A. Dyjecinski’s debut album The Valley of Yessiree. A. Dyjecinski will also be special guest on The Travelling Band’s upcoming tour.

“The sounds they generate took me back to my musical roots… Marvellous music to savour and enjoy” –Michael Eavis, Glastonbury Festival

From 5th October to the 29th, the band will be playing seventeen different venues, including playing locally in Winchester at The Railway Inn.
